Public money used to cover hotel losses in Japan
About 19.3 billion yen (US$210 million) in taxpayers’ money was used from fiscal 2004 through fiscal 2008 to cover losses suffered by hotels run by mutual aid associations of local government employees, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.
